Tomorrow

Whoa! I started writing this on Tuesday evening. It’s officially Wednesday morning. Geez. Where does the time go? What did I actually get accomplished between the time I started this and the time I finished? Hmm. Damn Friends reruns draw my attention.

Woke up kind of late this morning because the sun didn’t come out. Weird. At 7:21am, I glanced at the clock with half open eyes. I figured it couldn’t be too late because the sun hadn’t even come out fully yet. Awesome. Once the time registered in my brain, I jumped out of bed and jumped in the shower. I really dislike rushing. There’s a much better outcome to me when I don’t rush through getting ready.

The rain clouds lingered all day, and the chill in the air was welcomed with a sweatshirt and a craving for hot chocolate. After a long 10hr day, I satisfied that craving.

There wasn’t another mug in the entire house, so I had to use my M&M guy. S’okay. It was super yummy and yes, I do have a burnt tongue. :-P

Was at the gas station the other day and saw the Google Maps car. THAT was interesting.

I’ve seen it driving around town, and that big camera on top is fascinating to me. I wish I had the courage to stop and talk to that lady. I would love to climb up on that little ladder she had and see that camera up close. 360* of awesomeness.

I wonder if this itty bitty dog ever wishes to be bigger…

Went to the GI doctor the other day. I did not like what I had to hear, but I suppose I’m in no position to argue. However, fighting for the outcome I want is something I’m willing to do.

See you for my procedure, Doc.  :-/

Vacation: Day 4

10:30 this morning, Mom and I went to have breakfast before heading out. I had chicken fried steak & eggs. And a beer. i love vacation.

Mom and I took a drive up the coast today. Here’s what I saw…

We stopped for a beer here…

And this was my view from the bar…

This is the Marionberry dessert Mom ate. And she ate the WHOLE thing.

This cute little couple was sitting at this corner window, that looked out at the same view I could see from the bar (see photo above). They had lunch and then sat there, sipping iced tea, and playing cards. So super cute!

We hiked down a bunch of stairs to this…

I made Mom stop at the store on the way home so I could satisfy a marshmallow craving. Mmm.

See ya’ll tomorrow….

Vacation: Day 3

On the way to meet my step-dad yesterday, we ran into some friends of Mom’s. I kid you not, readers, this woman had a CAT, on a leash, in her car. She said the cat goes everywhere with them like a dog. She is usually found draped over the headrest of the driver seat. *sigh*

I’ve seen our trainers do things like this with cats, so I don’t know why I’m so surprised. I guess I just didn’t expect to see it with regular people.

I spent the day with my step-dad. Ever since my Mom left him last summer, he’s become somewhat of a hermit. He never was real social, which was one of Mom’s complaints, so he was overjoyed to have another person to chat with. I met him around 1:00p. We went to the local Rite Aid because he didn’t have any beer at the house. As the 6-pack called my name from the cooler, I said no wonder people love vacation so much. they can eat and drink as much as they want, and it’s acceptable. The guy walking down the isle smirked. I think he would have given me a high five if he hadn’t been with who I can only imagine was his girlfriend.

I’ll be honest, though. After SIX hours of drinking, I was ready to quit. We laughed, told funny stories, shared fears, and genuinely had a great time. He had gone and gotten stuff to make one of my favorite foods. The tacos he used to make when I was growing up, will forever be different than any other. I do not have a photo, however, trust me when I say they look just like any other taco. it’s the mental state of mind I enter from childhood that makes them so awesome!

Obviously neither of us were in any position to drive, so Mom picked me up around 10:00p. With tears in our eyes, we said goodbye. He left this morning for a month long trip to Wisconsin to see his daughter and grandkids. The sadness he felt last night when I left will soon be filled with the laughter and arguing of a brother and sister duo. And he can’t wait.

Mom and I are headed out today to just drive. Wherever we end up, we end up.

…still drinking…

Vacation: Day 2

Woke up yesterday morning to a helicopter outside. My mom’s new house backs up to the start of an airport runway. It’s a very teeny tiny airport, so only private planes come in/out. Well, they frequently do helicopter tours, I guess, because it comes down pretty close to the backyard. If I was having sex out on the patio, I’m sure I could convince them to make this house a regular stop on their tour.

He was much lower (about the height of the roof), but by the time I ran inside to get the camera, he was already flying off.

Mom and I went and had breakfast, then headed over to my stepdad’s house (grr at this whole living/not living together situation). I was happy to see him and he was more than thrilled to see me.

I am spending today with him. He’s going to make one of my favorite food’s for me. Can’t wait.

While at his house, we picked up their dog. He’s flying to Wisconsin for several weeks, so Mom is babysitting the dog. Lucky her. Lucky me. A 10 day vacation from the ranch and the dogs at home and I get this…

Mom wants to go see the new Harry Potter movie. I promised I’d go with her, but I needed to refresh my characters and see the most recent ones first. So, I sat and watched The Prisoner of Azkaban Sunday night. Great movie! Yesterday afternoon, while Mom was at work, I started The Order of the Phoenix. Unfortunately, I fell asleep 1/2 way through, and haven’t been able to finish it yet.

A stop at The Beachcomber Pub was a must. That is Mom’s hangout, so I’ll be there a few more times, I imagine. Plus, when I told the bartender I was Mom’s daughter, my drinks and food were on the house. Awesome!

See you later this evening for the wrap up of day three.

blah, blah, blah

Partied with a few friends the other night after partying with some other people earlier in the evening…

bff@work

Unfortunately, in between beers, a certain someone dropped my iTouch. (warning: do not operate machinery when drinking heavily) Screen cracked, so it went into the shop today. :-( I’m sad about not having it for a few days, but at least I’ll have a non cracked screen when I go on vacation.

While I was giving them all my info for the warranty, the guy says to me “Do you know a JK?” An instant sigh ran through my body. For reasons beyond my understanding, my warranty info was put into his name. Not a big deal, and not annoying to anyone other than me. I am, however, grateful I didn’t have to call him to get permission to take his name off. Whew!

Hope your Monday was awesome! T-minus 5 days till vacation.

Fun Friday

Hi readers! I hope your Friday evening was awesome, and I hope the rest of your weekend is ever more awesome!

I managed to get through an entire week without my bosses being there. Okay, Boss#1 was available, but only from his cell phone on the 7th hole.

Friday proved to be the most challenging day, but I struggled through it with every ounce of self control I could gather. I kept my cool, even though all I wanted to do was point out how much of an idiot this person was. All worked out in the end, and I’m pretty positive it wouldn’t have if I hadn’t stayed so focused. What a nightmare, and a HUGE pat on the back to me for staying nice. I’ve done my bosses proud!   :-)

By 8:30p, I had a beer in hand. On our way home from the restaurant, we stopped at my favorite local bar. Another beer. Karaoke night! Another beer. LZ got up and sang Love Shack by The B-52’s while a friendly guy at the bar chatted me up. Another beer. Spent the next 40 minutes trying to help LZ pick another song to sing. Finally decided on Goodbye Earl by The Dixie Chicks. I sang with her on this one, and we rocked it! Other people were singing along and having a good time.

Stay tuned… there could possibly be more to this guy that chatted me up at the bar. LZ seemed to like him. I suppose I’ll always have a soft spot for someone with a southern accent. Tennessee…you might be my new favorite state.

My favorite

Thank goodness for iced tea. I felt a bit dehydrated this morning when I woke up, so a quick stop for some iced tea saved my life. :-)

Believe it or not, I actually DO make mistakes

A few nights ago, Thursday to be exact, I was feeling like having a margarita. What better place than a Mexican restaurant? JK, being the fabulous, loving, wanting-to-make-me-happy kind of guy, took me for just the thing. I went ahead and ordered a margarita, and then another. I’m not a drinker. I drink once every six or seven months, so of course, they went right to my head. Whoo!

As we were leaving, I remember thinking to myself It’s been a while since I’ve been tipsy. This is kind of nice. (Anything after this very point in the evening, I am not taking responsibility for. It was all the tequila.) As I mentioned in a previous post, JK had his car stolen not too long ago, so he’s now driving a brand new car, that I’m not familiar with yet. On any given day, sober or not, I would walk right past it not knowing which car it was.

As we’re approaching the car, JK pushed the unlock button. I walk up to the passenger door, think to myself, these handles look different, but figured I just wasn’t used to the car yet so maybe I was wrong, and opened up the door. Once the door was opened, this is the conversation that took place:

Me: “Where did all this stuff come from?”

JK: “What stuff?” as he’s opening up the driver door.

THREE SECOND PAUSE

JK: “Oh shit! This isn’t my car!!”

We both closed the doors as quickly as we could, and looked around to make sure nobody saw us. His car was 2 spots over. We couldn’t stop laughing. On the way home, JK called three people just so they could laugh AT us, not with us.

Worst part? It wasn’t even the same kind of car!

Blue Juice

When RJ was little, he had a strong addiction to what The X and I referred to as blue juice. To everyone else in the world, it was Mountain Blast Gatorade.

No matter where we went, he wanted blue juice as his drink of choice. When we’d go on road trips, I always made sure the cooler was stocked with it. When he would spend the weekend with my parents, he’d drink it there. Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t all he would drink, but any time you asked him what he wanted to drink, his reply was always “Blue Juice”. McDonald’s had just started carrying it on their drink menu, so when The X or I would stop to satisfy a Big Mac or Filet-O-Fish craving, we’d get him his blue juice.

Today, JK took me to breakfast, and wouldn’t you know, the guy in front of me was drinking blue juice. It was the first time, in over five years, I’d thought about how much I miss the little things I never thought would matter.

All because of a simple drink.

I love you, RJ, and miss you so very much.

Big Red

I recently visited a supermarket I’d never been. Okay, to be honest, I’d never even heard of this store, but there it was, in a huge shopping center, calling my name. As I walked through, my attention was quickly diverted to a cooler stocked full of Big Red. I immediately shuttered and said Ew. That drink finally made it out of Texas, huh? Gross.
