Goodbye

Goodbye.
My dictionary defines it as a word used to express good wishes when parting or at the end of a conversation. But me, I define it as an end. An end to something that meant something so important to you, regardless whether positive or negative wishes are meant.

The word goodbye is something I say when I know I’ll never see someone again. An aunt that’s passed, a friend that moved away, a jail cellmate I once had, are all examples of times I’ve said that word out loud. Any other time, I just say bye. It’s a completely different form of the word (a secondary word, if you will), so it’s different. At least it is to me, and I’ve always been very careful about how I use it. I suppose if you think back hard enough, you’ll notice I’ve never said goodbye to you if we still currently talk. ;-)

Saturday, I went to the funeral service for boss#1’s youngest child. “A 22-year-old Rock Star, Pain in the Ass, and Badass”, his sister quotes. A few weeks ago, heroin took his life, and left the people around him with so many questions. I cannot even pretend to imagine what they are feeling, and I do not want to. They are in a deep cauldron of boiling pain, that only their own beliefs and strength can pull them from. It was a sad moment I hope to never live through, and I’m grateful I was able to express my sympathies to both of his parents and his siblings.

I wish their family the best in these hard times, and hope they pull themselves out of their sadness and disbelief.

After it was over, I said my verbal goodbyes to people I know I’ll never see again. And a few I hope I never do. It was bittersweet, but oh so desperately needed. I’m not angry. I’m not even upset. It’s more of a sign of relief. I don’t have to pretend anything anymore. And I don’t have to be nice to people that are otherwise, just a pain in the ass.

Peace out! Thumbs up

{Currently}

{Thinking About} The birthday party I’m attending today at lunch. Boss#1 is turning 73-years-old, so we’re all taking him to lunch. Can you imagine still being active at 73? I sure hope I am.

{Reading} I’m not a big book reader, but a blog reader I am. So, currently I’m reading about how great pregnancy is for Stephanie over at Southern Mess, how much Amber dislikes Ginger Ale at Airing My Dirty Laundry, and how Perfectly Imperfect Jenn’s baby is. So freakin’ adorable. Makes me want another one. But shhhh! Don’t tell SS. It just might scare him away.

{Listening To} My XM radio vary rarely changes from the two country channels, so currently, we’re jamming to Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, and Thomas Rhett’s new song Small Town Throwdown.

{Watching} Since SS’s daughter is here for the summer, we’ve spent several mornings waking up to shows on Disney. We’re not huge Disney fans around here. Partially because I’ve never seen a more cheap group of people. Any time we get a call for an animal to work on a Disney show, the cheap rundown of B.S. we have to listen to, makes us roll our eyes and hang up the phone. Billion dollar industry, and they want to claim poor? Get real!

{Thankful For} The glass half full point of view I have been given. It wasn’t so long ago, that every glass seemed half empty. Thankfully, someone came along and showed me the difference.

Letter to…

Happy Hump Day, Y’all!  :-)

Today I decided I would write to individual people. Some won’t see it, but some will.

Dear Sis: You ran a half marathon. HALF MARATHON! Do you realize what I just said? M-A-R-A-T-H-O-N. 13.1 miles. That’s 13 miles more than I ran that day. I’m so proud of you. Your will to push through all the pain, inspires me. Next year, we’re running it together. I can’t wait.

Dear RM#1: I understand your OCD and constant need to have everything perfect and clean, but just once I’d like to leave a dish in the sink and not have you wash it before me. ;-)

Dear RM#2: I’m anxious for you to come back. When I heard you were coming back this month (two months early!!), I was shocked, yet happy. There are some manly things around the house that need to be done. Hurry home!

Dear Mom: I’m anxious and excited for your visit this month, but I wish you weren’t staying at the hotel across the street from Jeffy’s house.

Dear Squid: Get your shit together. Stop getting speeding tickets. It’s cutting into your extra spending for NASCAR races and Stagecoach.

Dear Boss#2: If you don’t stop losing your credit cards, I’m going to lose my mind. I can’t keep covering for you with Boss#1. Oh, and thanks for the surprise $100 bill. HELPFUL!

Dear Jeffy: I still think about you. A lot. When certain songs come on the radio, I’m forced to change the channel simply because I refuse to break down and cry for you anymore. And when David at work asks about you, he acknowledges the pain in my face. It’s a side of David you’d never believe existed. But it does.

Dear RJ: I wish you’d let ME teach you to drive. I’m a much better driver than your dad.

Dear Mitch: Whatever happens, happens. Be a man in either situation. Allow her to just be her, but don’t let her take advantage of you. Don’t push (unless it’s from behind). Don’t make her sad, but allow her to cry if she is.

Dear Stepdad: You better kick this Cancer bullshit. I won’t tolerate you letting Cancer beat you.

Dear Kyle Busch: It’s been a rough Chase, I get it, but keep your head up and take on Phoenix and Richmond like never before. It’s a big year for you. You’ve shown an incredible amount of restraint in a few situations that I’m aware of. I’ve done almost everything I can to recruit new KB fans. I’m still working on a few. #KBShow

Dear Matt Kenseth: Please beat Jimmie Johnson.

Birthday Drinks

Seventy-one

Yesterday, Boss#1 turned 71 years old. We celebrated with lunch and drinks. (From left to right: Boss#2, different company owner, Boss#1).

Happy Birthday to my favorite boss!

9/30 Things: List 10 people who have influenced you and describe how.

In no particular order….

RJ: He makes me a better person. He gives me confidence that I can do anything. He makes me feel invincible.

BFF@work: He influences me to relax when I’m not working. He pushes me to enjoy time off and not let things beyond my control, control me.

StepDad: He raised me. Enough said.

JK: He makes me want to be a better girlfriend. ;-)

Sis: She influences me to play with her cats. Even if I don’t want to.

Squid: He influences me to be lazy. He’s one of my favorite people with whom to be lazy.

Mom: She taught me that hard work doesn’t always equal happiness.

Dad: Taught me about the kind of person I don’t want to be. He showed me an example of how unhappy life can be when you push everyone around you away.

Boss#1: He’s taught me the most about money.

DD: She is the one person, that makes me work hardest. She expects the most from me while I’m in the office. She doesn’t allow me to slack off. She is one of my closest friends.

Monday again

Here’s how the rest of my day went…

Perhaps, just maybe, the trainers knew I needed a little pick-me-up today. This note was on the computer screen when I got to work. Thank you ladies!

Then I remembered, bff@work bought me a chocolate milk last week (cause he knows it’s one of my favorites) and it was still in the fridge. Yay! Happiness.

Boss#2 comes into the office and says I have to go pick up a motorhome today. want to go? YES!!!!! A few hours later, we were off…

Here’s the inside…

It’s a 35-40 minute drive from the rental place back to the ranch. We topped 55mph on the freeway. Once we got onto the main street that goes to the ranch, we reach 58mph. We. Were. Flying. We stayed in our lane most of the way, and was only honked at by a trucker once. Oh, and the passenger side mirror almost got side swiped twice by truckers.

Here’s how close she got to the tree when she parked it…

The last hour and a half went by fairly quickly. And pretty painless. I was able to bid another job, harvest my crops in FarmVille, AND find a date for tonight. I rock!

Oh! I almost forgot. The poodle is groomed! Whooooo hooooo.

g’night.

A new toy to play with

It’s almost the weekend. Yay! Anyone else as excited as I?

I’m going to be hanging out at Boss#1’s house for the next few days. He’s out of town at his granddaughters high school graduation, so I’m taking care of the dogs at his house. Yay for me. And five dogs.  :-/

Boss#2 bought a new MacBook for the office. Guess who got to take it home on the first night? Yep, me. I’m not a Mac person. Don’t like ‘em. Never have, probably never will. That was confirmed when I turned it on and didn’t even know where to start. I felt like there was a lot of clutter. Boss#2 is taking it with her on vacation, so I need to make sure it does certain things for her while she’s gone.

I’m not an idiot. The X taught me how to build computers years ago. PC is what I know. I have several friends who use Mac’s, and have been trying to get me to switch for years.

After sitting here playing with the MacBook, I can honestly say I do not like it. It has a couple features I like, but honestly, I can get those programs for my PC and be just as happy.

I’ll continue to play around with it throughout the evening, but I do not anticipate any excitement coming out of it.

What made Val happy this week?

Picture1

With the 30 Days of Me coming to an end, I guess it’s time to start up something different. Perhaps thinking about positive things in life will make a difference to someone else. So, here we go…

  • I was able to pay my rent with little trouble.
  • I played an exciting game of beer pong and won!
  • My bosses proved once again, that they are grateful for me.
