{Currently}

{Thinking About} The birthday party I’m attending today at lunch. Boss#1 is turning 73-years-old, so we’re all taking him to lunch. Can you imagine still being active at 73? I sure hope I am.

{Reading} I’m not a big book reader, but a blog reader I am. So, currently I’m reading about how great pregnancy is for Stephanie over at Southern Mess, how much Amber dislikes Ginger Ale at Airing My Dirty Laundry, and how Perfectly Imperfect Jenn’s baby is. So freakin’ adorable. Makes me want another one. But shhhh! Don’t tell SS. It just might scare him away.

{Listening To} My XM radio vary rarely changes from the two country channels, so currently, we’re jamming to Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, and Thomas Rhett’s new song Small Town Throwdown.

{Watching} Since SS’s daughter is here for the summer, we’ve spent several mornings waking up to shows on Disney. We’re not huge Disney fans around here. Partially because I’ve never seen a more cheap group of people. Any time we get a call for an animal to work on a Disney show, the cheap rundown of B.S. we have to listen to, makes us roll our eyes and hang up the phone. Billion dollar industry, and they want to claim poor? Get real!

{Thankful For} The glass half full point of view I have been given. It wasn’t so long ago, that every glass seemed half empty. Thankfully, someone came along and showed me the difference.

What Do You Think About That?

I heard it through the grapevine
My new neighbor don't like my big red barn
A '47 Ford, bullet holes in the door
Broke down motor in the front yard
I got half a mind to paint a plywood sign
And nail it up on a notty pine tree
Saying I was here first
This is my piece of dirt
And your rambling don't rattle me

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll off-a my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

I wear what I want to, overalls work boots
Crank my music up loud
Like to sling a little mud in my four wheel drive
Trek it all into town

Shot a little eight ball down at the pool hall
Drink a beer with my friends
Now don't judge me and I won't judge you
Cause we all get judged in the end

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll offa my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll offa my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

Say, I don't give a damn what other people think
What do ya think about that
What do ya think about that

CMA Awards

Did you guys catch the CMA Awards last night? It was, in my personal opinion, the best country awards show I’ve ever watched. Performances were flawless, the hosts were classy and funny, and there weren’t any stupid little teenage kids dancing with foam fingers. Perfect.

Opening act – Luke Bryan – sings That’s My Kind of Night. What is up with the glittery shirt? Last year it was glittery pants. Someone needs to tell him that he’s not a girl and cannot pull off wearing sequins. And he sounded really out of breath half way through the song, just in time for Florida Georgia Line to take over singing Cruise. What is it about the guy with the longer hair? I just can’t take him seriously. Up on stage, I don’t want to see someone constantly flipping their hair with their hands. It’s tacky looking. As far as performance value, it was great.

Brad. Carrie. H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S. Tastefully done. ♪♪ObamaCare by Morning♪♪  Hahahahahaha

Someone please tell me what the hell all the craze is with the Duck Dynasty guys. I.Don’t.Get.It.

Single of the Year – Florida Georgia Line - Cruise – Seriously. Someone please cut that guys hair.

Jason Aldean – performs Night Train on a mockup train car. FUCKING AWESOME. He killed it. Rocked it right to the end. Was amazing. I heart him. Can’t wait to see him at Stagecoach again.

Kacey Musgraves – performs Follow Your Arrow – I’m a fan of hers. She’s a new up and coming artist that I’ve listened to for months and months on XM, but this song is not my favorite. It’s eh.

Lady Antebellum – performs Compass – Perfect, as usual. I love them.

Song of the Year – Lee Brice – I Drive Your Truck – Awesome. Of the five songs nominated, I think the best song won. Yay.

Little Big Town – performs Sober – LOOOOOOVE. This is going to be a huge hit. I already love it. The message is true. We’ve all felt it. They’re so amazing. Their voices all go together so beautifully, it’s hard to not like them.

Vocal Duo of the Year – Florida Georgia Line – shocker! If you didn’t think they’d win this award, then you’re not paying attention to country radio.

Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert – perform We Were Us – this song has totally grown on me. And I’m REEEEEEALLY happy Miranda didn’t act like an idiot when she performed. And Keith – Mmmmmmm.

Taylor Swift – performs Red with a wall of fantastic performers. Wonderful performance. This song ALWAYS makes me cry, and this time was no exception.

Florida Georgia Line – performs Round Here. Fine. They did a great job.

Hunter Hayes & Jason Mraz – perform Everybody’s Got Somebody But Me – I don’t know who Jason Mraz is, and judging by his performance, I’m not missing much. He couldn’t keep up with the song. What kind of PROFESSIONAL performer can’t sing someone else’s song? Perhaps studying or listening to the song is too much for someone as famous as Jason? Ugh. Very disappointed with this performance.

New Artist of the Year – Kacey Musgraves – Wow. This shocked me. I didn’t think she was on the same playing field level as the other performers, but I guess she is. Or it was a fluke. We’ll see.

Eric Church – performs The Outsiders – my opinion on this song stands the same as it did the other day. It’s okay, until him and his guys break out into that crazy heavy metal guitar solo. I don’t turn this song off when it comes on the radio, but I will switch over to see what else is on (in case there’s a better song somewhere else). The crowd went wild, so I assume they all approve.

Music Video of the Year – Tim McGraw – The Highway Don’t Care – fantastic video. perfect decision.

The Band Perry – performs Don’t Let Me Be Lonely – Every song they release, I automatically love. And when they perform, I fall in love with them a more every time. They’re just awesome.

Album of the Year – Blake Shelton – This was a good decision. I’ve listened to all the albums that were nominated, and this one is definitely a great album. Worthy of the Album of the Year label.

Tim McGraw – performs Southern Girl – I still wonder what made him become so skinny. He almost looks sick. But, his voice is still great. He nailed it.

Blake Shelton – performs Mine Would Be You – Believe it or not, I held the tears back for this song. Granted, I had to get up and walk out of the room when he started to sing the final verse, but that’s just the way it is. For now.

The Pinnacle Award – given to Taylor Swift. She’s definitely the most gracious winner of ALL the artists. With the exception of maybe George Strait. ;-)

Carrie Underwood – performs a medley of her recent songs. Fab. Hit it spot on. She’s the ONLY female singer in country music today (and maybe Martina?), that can hit some of those amazing notes. And HOLD them. Just pure talent.

Vocal Group of the Year – Little Big Town – WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!! I love that they are shown the appreciation that they deserve. Fantastic group of voices.

Alan Jackson & George Strait – perform an old George Jones classic He Stopped Lovin’ Her Today – and by far, the BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE ENTIRE NIGHT!! Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Two of the greatest singers in country history, together, and the tears wouldn’t stop falling. I cried and cried, and then cried some more. Just amazing.

Zack Brown (with Dave Grohl) – performs Day for the Dead. Ugh. I don’t like Zack Brown, so naturally, I didn’t like this song. And I didn’t like the performance. But…..Dave Grohl ROCKED on the drums. He’s amazing, and I’ll always credit him as being one of the most talented.

Brad Paisley – performs The Mona Lisa – I am not a Brad Paisley fan, but he did just fine. I guess.

Kenny Rodgers – another one of my all time favorites. I can remember being six or seven, listening to Kenny in my stepdads truck on the way home from school. Even back THEN I knew good country music. Islands in the Stream – that’s all I need to say. :-)

Female Vocalist of the Year – Miranda Lambert – eh.

Luke Bryan – performs Drink A Beer. Okay, I’ve been pretty hard on Luke for the last few months because his songs are lame, and just, well, stupid. I’m happy to hear him finally come out with something that doesn’t involve strippers throwing money around.

Male Vocalist of the Year – Blake Shelton – deserving, I guess.

Entertainer of the Year – King.George.Strait. Yep. I balled my eyes out. It was like someone turned on the faucet full blast, and walked away. BEST.DECISION.EVER. I’m a little bummed I didn’t get to see his farewell tour before he retired, but I’m grateful I was able to see him twice before. George will always be my all time favorite country artist. And I have all the albums and box sets to prove it.

Still balling……

Eric Church–Where are you with him?

Eric Church – undoubtedly one of the most popular singers in Country Music. But what are YOUR feelings about him?

Have you heard his new song “The Outsiders”? Have ya, have ya? If you haven’t, you have to stop reading this right now, and go listen. Find somewhere on the internet that has it, and listen.

Look, I love Eric Church. I love his bad boy attitude, his sexy swagger, and he’s one of very few men that can wear Aviators. (Trust me on this, your husband looks stupid wearing them.)

The song is typical Eric Church style. Rock mixed with a little Country. Very little Country. There’s a fantastic Metallica guitar solo at the end that doesn’t have any place in Country Music, and should have been left out.

Country Music has taken a drastic turn in the last few years, and it’s artists like Brad Paisley and Keith Urban that, in my opinion, have led the movement on that. If it wasn’t for their loooooong annoying guitar solos in almost every single song they sing, artists like Jason Aldean, Brantley Gilbert, and Eric Church wouldn’t have to “one up” each other and make the solo more annoying than the last.

And to make matters worse, I think the lyrics suck. I’ll change the radio station when this song comes on, as I do with every song of Zack Brown’s.

I read several comments on a few different reviews of the song, and it seems that the majority of Country fans seem to all agree. It’s way too much Heavy Metal for Country Radio. Listeners are complaining, and turning the channel. But if that’s true, how is he one of the top selling artists?

Loving him was red

Every morning, I arrive to work anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes early. Every day. During that time before heading into The Ranch, I sit in my car and smoke a joint mentally prepare myself for the next nine hours. I read through the emails on my phone, and answer any questions I can without having to look something up in the office. I don’t like going into a situation without having some sort of clue as to how the outcome will be. It’s just not my style.

Yesterday morning, I was sitting in my car just like any other day, and Blake Shelton’s new song (I put the lyrics on here back in April – click here to read them), started playing on XM.

Whoa!

Whoa! Whoa!

I know the lyrics to this song. I heard it months ago when the album came out. And I fell in love with it way back then. But I was NOT prepared for what happened next.

Five words into the song, and I had tears streaming down my face. Ten words in, and my eyes were red. Seventeen words in, and I was in the middle of one of the biggest ugly cries I’ve ever had. Ever. Ever ever.

The words were piercing every part of my body. Every part of my existence was being thrashed around and pulled apart. And I couldn’t believe the amount of pain I was suddenly feeling.

I’m feeling like this because of a song?”, I coherently thought to myself. “This is ridiculous. And needs to stop.

I wiped the tears that were falling like anvils, but my fingers weren’t quick enough to keep up. My shirt was soaked, and I was a mess.

I looked at my phone to see what time it was, and remember thinking, “Cool. I still have twenty minutes to get myself together.

I took a few deep breaths, continued to wipe the tears that were still falling on their own, and tried to drift my attention to the little rabbits that were playing right outside my car. But the lyrics were too strong. They played whether I wanted them to or not.

One hundred and ninety-six words in, I had my driver door open, and I sat leaning over with my face in my lap. Two hundred and four words in, and I had to shut it off. I couldn’t handle the pain that was radiating through my body. It had become unbearable.

I stood up and let the cool morning air dry my tears while I tried to regain some sort of grasp on what had just happened. Almost immediately I sat back down, and the tears were falling. One of our kennel guys was switching dogs around, and I know he could hear me. But I just didn’t care. I was in pain, and I didn’t give a damn who knew.

I finally grabbed all my stuff, along with my breakfast, and headed into the office. A few minutes later, one of the trainers pulled up. She came in, and immediately she could tell by my face that something was wrong. I wasn’t prepared to have a conversation with someone about it, and I knew she’d want to know what was wrong. But this time, she just walked up to me and hugged me and wouldn’t let go. She could see the pain in my face, and she knew all I needed was someone to tell me it was okay to cry. And I did. Loud. And it was FULL of pain.

I definitely do not want to go back down any roads I’ve already trudged, and I’m grateful that I know that, but I’m not going to lie. I fucking miss Jeffy. And I guess now I know it still is very raw.

CMT Awards

Hi Y’all.

Did you catch the CMT Awards last week? If you did, what did you think? If you didn’t, you can probably watch each performance on YouTube. Or catch it on CMT as a rerun.

Here’s my two cents……

Why the hell is the CMT awards being opened by Lenny Kravitz? If Jason Aldean was going to sing along, why didn’t HE open? And why was he doing the solo guitar, when Keith Urban was there? Oh geez.

Jason Aldean in therapy. Haha. That was HILARIOUS!!!! Good job, writers.

Breakthrough Video of the Year

I wanted: How Country Feels (Randy Houser)

Winner: Cruise (Florida Georgia Line)

Video of the Year

I wanted: Blown Away (Carrie Underwood)

Winner:

Miranda Lambert’s performance of Mama’s Broken Heart – Really? Is this woman serious? It sounded like a bad karaoke version of this song. I’m disappointed.

Kacey Musgraves’ performance of Blowing Smoke – First off, let me just point out how beautiful she is. I hear her on the radio all the time, but haven’t ever seen her. Wow. And in my opinion, she totally outdid Miranda.

And can you tell me why the bounty hunter guy is there? What part of him says country music? <sigh>

CMT Performance of the Year

I wanted: Homeboy (Eric Church)

Winner: (Over You) Miranda Lambert

Darius Rucker’s performance of Wagon Wheel – I just love him. I love his ability to just have a ball anywhere he is. I don’t dislike him in Country Music as much as I thought I would. I don’t know that Lady A’s appearance was necessary, but they were great, as usual.

Hunter Hayes’ performance of Crazy – He’s so freakin’ cute. I’ve loved all his song thus far, so of course, this one isn’t any different. I love the way he plays to the audience. Such a people person. And he kinda reminds me of Ricky Stenhouse Jr.  ;-)

Luke Bryan’s performance of Crash My Party – For a ‘booty call’ song, it’s typical. I don’t really have a lot to say about this performance. I guess the only thing that was weird, was the strange hand movements he kept making.

Taylor Swift’s performance of Red – I think this is the first time I’ve ever said this, and probably the ONLY time I’ll ever say it. In this performance, she looked SMOKIN’ HOT! Reminded me a little of Shania Twain.

Best Collaborative Video of the Year

I wanted: The Only Way I Know (Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan/Eric Church)

Winner: The Only Way I Know (Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan/Eric Church)

Keith Urban’s performance of Little Bit of Everything – Love this song, and love him. His guitar playing abilities are amazing. I could listen to him sing and play for hours He is simply, incredible.

Duo Video of the Year

I wanted: Runnin’ Out of Air (Love and Theft)

Winner: Cruise (Florida George Line)

Lady Antebellum’s performance of Goodbye Town – I don’t really get this song. I’ve heard it a handful of times, but it hasn’t grown on me. They’re good no matter what. I don’t have any complaints about them. Charles is amazing.

Female Video of the Year

I wanted: Begin Again (Taylor Swift)

Winner: Mama’s Broken Heart (Miranda Lambert)

Little Big Town’s performance of The Chain – These four have such an amazing sound when they sing together. They can do no wrong. Even on a rock song I’ve never heard. I saw them open for Kenny Chesney a few years ago, and their sound is just bone chilling. So beautiful.

Group Video of the Year

I wanted: Pontoon (Little Big Town)

Winner: Downtown (Landy Antebellum)

Jason Aldean’s performance of Night Train was great. I love that song, and I’m soooo happy he’s chosen that song to be his next single. He’s coming to SoCal in October. Guess who’s going? Yep – me and RM#1. Can’t wait.

Male Video of the Year

I wanted: Come Over (Kenny Chesney)

Winner: Sure Be Cool If You Did (Blake Shelton)

Carrie Underwood’s performance of See You Again sucked. Everyone knows I don’t like her live performances, and this time was no exception. I just can’t say something anything about this….

Video of the Year

I wanted: Blown Away (Carrie Underwood)

Winner: Blown Away (Carrie Underwood)

I love Kenny Rogers. No matter how old he gets. Just sayin’.

Florida Georgia Line’s performance of Cruise (featuring Nelly) was just like you would expect. Can we now move on from this Cruise song, please?

Song for Today

It's like someone knew my life story...

My good buddy asked me, "Buddy why don't you drink?"
And I said, "It's probably better I don't"
He said, "There's a lotta girls in this here bar that we could chase"
I said, "Trust me It's probably better I don't
Cause I used to be an all nighter
I'm a hell of a back slider
I've been around the block more than a time or two
And I can promise you
I've drank my weight in booze
And I've been known to get on stage in nothing but my boots
"

So it's better I don't, Cause believe me I will
I get looser than a line on a fishing reel
Dare me don't do, don't think I won't,
take it all off, turn it all on
Get buck wild, hell bent, and stoned It's better I don't

Well I was wearing the cuffs, when the warden said, "Just tell me the truth"
And I said, "Sir, it's probably better I don't"
And I was up on the stand, and the judge said, "Just tell me what happened man"
And I said, "Buddy it's probably better I don't, but since you asked
I was mindin' my own business at a hundred and five
I was a county road cruisin'
out running the blue lights
I was on the home stretch,
I was roundin' that last curve,
Well I ran out of gas and that's when I learn
"

It's better I don't, cause believe me I will
I get looser than a line on a fishing reel
Dare me don't do, don't think I won't, take it all off, turn it all on
Get buck wild, hell bent, and stoned.
It's better I don't

Now there's things I don't remember,
There's things that I do
But I don't know the half of what I got into

And it's better I don't, cause believe me I will
I get looser than a line on your fishing reel
Dare me don't do, don't think I won't take it all off, turn it all on
Get buck wild, hell bent, and stoned.
Drunk dial somebody on the phone
Drink too many beers and drive a Harley home
It's better I don't.

Mine Would Be You

Some songs just strike a nerve....

What's your all time high, your good as it gets?
Your hands down best ever make-up sex?
What's your guilty pleasure, your old go to?
Well if you ask me, mine would be you

What's your worst hangover, your best night yet?
Your 90 proof, your Marlboro Red?
The best damn thing you lucked into
That's easy girl, mine would be you

Mine would be you
Sun keeps shining, back road flying
Singing like crazy fools
Making up our own words
Laughing 'til it hurts
Baby, if I had to choose
My best day ever
My finest hour, my wildest dream come true
Mine would be you

What's your double dare, your go all in?
The craziest thing you ever did?
Plain as your name in this tattoo
Look on my arm, mine would be you

Mine would be you
Sun keeps shining, back road flying
Singing like crazy fools
Making up our own words
Laughing 'til it hurts
Baby, if I had to choose
My best day ever
My finest hour, my wildest dream come true
Mine would be you

What's the greatest chapter in your book?
Are there pages where it hurts to look?
What's the one regret you can't work through?
You got it baby, mine would be you
Yeah you got it baby, mine would be you

Mine would be you
Taillights fading
Daylight breaking
Standing there like a fool
When I should've been running
Yellin' out something
To make you wanna hold onto
The best love ever
Girl, can you tell me
The one thing you'd rather die than lose?
Cause mine would be you
Mine would be you, you

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Y'all!

Happy Thanksgiving.

I know it's been a while since I've been on here, and my posts aren't near as interesting as they used to be (if they ever were at all), but to anyone that still is out there (besides my family), thanks for stickin' around. And apologies for bringing this to you a day late.

Since it's been a while since we've talked music, I thought I would list a few of my favorites on today's radio. In no particular order.

Tornado - The very first time I heard this song, it spoke to me. It was pure hate, wrapped into a little package named Little Big Town. I was immediately in awe of how they got such a message to come across, without yelling about it. Carrie Underwood, would have screamed it. Martina McBride would have yelled it. They, didn't.

Tornado - Little Big Town

Crying on A Suitcase - It took me a while to get this song. I knew I loved the message he was trying convey, but it was difficult for me to hear the words he was saying. A lot like when I listen to rap, I struggled to understand until I learned the words myself.

How Country Feels - This song, to me, is what Country is. It is the pure definition of back road country. And THAT, is why I love it.

How Country Feels - Randy Houser

Hope on the Rocks - This song is the kind of music I miss hearing from Toby. End of story. :-)

Sleepy Little Town - When songs tell several different stories, I feel like I become more involved in the song. Thing song made me feel like I was actually part of this little town.

El Cerrito Place - Typical Kenny. He never disappoints. And this song is no exception. When I first heard this song, I didn't get it. I didn't understand the message he was trying to convey. JK had to explain it to me. And then, and only then, did it all come together.

Begin Again - I am a very different Taylor Swift fan. I love her music. I think she has an incredible talent in writing, and the way she gets her message through to her listeners, is amazing. With that being said, I give a lot of credit to the voice alterations that take place when she's singing on an album. Live? Totally different voice.  :-(   She reminds me a lot of Kenny Chesney. It's typical Taylor to sing about breaking up, just as its typical Kenny fashion to sing a song about sipping drinks on the beach in Mexico. This song, however, offered a more in depth look into the thoughts of a girl, whose perhaps not as scared as she thought.

That's all I've got right now. I hope everyone had a fantabulous Thanksgiving. I enjoyed a great dinner with Jeffy's family. A few surprise family friends came by to help celebrate.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!

Night Train

He described it as a long caravan of trucks carrying equipment, merchandise, and band members, driving away from a now empty venue after a night of loud live music and drinking. A definition to him, of how far they've come from their little one man pull trailer.

Jason Aldean's new album Night Train, became available today.

I've heard it. They've been playing songs from the new album for days on XM Channel 59. And I'm hooked.

He's been one of my favorite Country singers for several years now. Sis and I saw him in concert a few years back and I fell in love with his voice. Jeffy didn't much like him at first. In fact, I remember purposely changing the radio channel when his songs would come on, just so he didn't have to listen to him. But now, he likes him just as much as I do. And I think I sense an upcoming concert date. ;-)

I don't pay for music. There are too many ways to download music free, for me to be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on all the different kinds of music I own. Just isn't worth it to me. But today, I decided to open my iTunes and see how much it would cost to buy this new album. As soon as it opened, guess who was the VERY FIRST album I saw? Yep. Jason.

Guess what I'll be listening to on my drive home tonight?

Song for Today

And in case you need the lyrics, here they are….

I am insensitive I have a tendency
To pay more attention to the things that I need.
Sometimes I drink too much, sometimes I test your trust,
Sometimes I don't know why you're staying with me.

I'm hard to love, hard to love,
I don't make it easy,
I couldn't do it if I stood where you stood
I'm hard to love, hard to love,
You say that you need me,
I don't deserve it but I love that you love me.
Good

I am a short fuse, I am a wrecking ball
Crashing into your heart like I do
You're like a Sunday morning full of grace and full of Jesus
I wish that I could be more like you.

I'm hard to love, hard to love,
I don't make it easy,
I couldn't do it if I stood where you stood,
I'm hard to love, hard to love,
You say that you need me,
I don't deserve it but I love that you love me.
Good
Love me good

Girl you've given me a million second chances
And I don't ever wanna take you for granted,
I'm just a man, I'm just a man

Hard to love, hard to love,
Oh I don't make it easy
I couldn't do it if I stood where you stood.
I'm hard to love, hard to love
And you say that you need me,
I don't deserve it but I love that you love me.

Lovely Sunday

Hi Readers! How y’all doing?

It’s been a fabulous Sunday. It started off a bit weird, but that’s life. What can ya do about it?

Doorbell rang at 7am this morning. Ugh, really? I’m not expecting anyone. Maybe it’s an emergency. I open the door and there stands a man. I whisper “Can I help you” in the nicest 7am voice I could muster. He takes a step backwards and says, “I’m here to pick you up for the airport.” Ha. If only I was flying somewhere, I wouldn’t be so annoyed with the fact that I’m not at the Phoenix track this weekend. “Nobody at this address is flying anywhere. You have the wrong house.” He fumbled for a minute, obviously caught off guard, while I closed the door. I stood in the kitchen window watching him, and after a few minutes, he drove away. Hmm. He didn’t go to any other houses and knock on their doors. How could he possibly get the ENTIRE address wrong, not just the house number? Ugh! And all this at 7am.

Naturally, I couldn’t fall back asleep. I exchanged a few texts with a friend, and eventually, sleep came. I woke up just in time for driver introductions to the NASCAR race.

Once up, I freshened up so I wasn’t a walking zombie, played with the dogs for a bit, and realized, Hey! I’m gonna drive to McDonald’s and satisfy this Big Mac craving I’m having. I know. My mind is so random. And I don’t know why I do this, but when I go to McDonald’s, I can’t just order one thing I want to eat. I order several things that multiple people would eat. I’m not expecting company of any kind, but what if I get back home and wished I’d gotten nuggets? I don’t want to be annoyed that I don’t have any after driving there. And the Ranch Snack Wrap? Why the heck did I buy that? Old habits die hard. It’s just going to take some time.

Let’s see. What else is rambling around in my head?

I would rather see Carl Edwards win the NASCAR title, than Tony Stewart. Since the company I work for provides the animals for the Aflac commercials, I am obligated to cheer for Carl. I mean, come on. How cool would it be to have the Aflac duck at the awards ceremony with him? And if Tony wins, fine. I’ll be forced to listen to the taunting of the neighbors across the street, but it’s okay. Kyle wins way more than Tony does.

Sis & Squid are officially moved into their first place. Yay! Finally they can live as a married couple. No more Dad knocking on the door while their having sex. No more having to listen to Dad yell because they left their clothes in the dryer. Soon they’ll be going on their honeymoon, so NOT coming home to Dad’s house was very important. And I get to stay there while they’re away. Smile.

Congrats on your first place guys.

This will be part of my lovely view…

I’m obsessing over Luke Bryan’s new song I Don’t Want This Night To End. I wish he’d wear his pants one size larger. Just one. They look so funny on his butt. And he stands weird in them. But watch the video. I’ve watched it about 50 times. Can’t.Stop.Singing.It.

I’ve got some more car issues. And unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be something I can do myself. I’m sad about this, because playing under the hood of my car has become something I rather enjoy. Sad face.

Dropbox is so convenient. I use it all the time. I’m so glad I was introduced to it. It prevents me from becoming annoyed with not being able to email something too big. I just say I’ll Dropbox it. So awesome.

I’m thinking about going for a walk. The race is over, my eggs for egg salad are done boiling, tea is almost done cooking out in the sun, meat is almost thawed for tacos tonight, and the dishes are clean. I think I’ll put my iPod on shuffle and just walk. I always get stopped at bff@work’s house, which is fine if mingling is what I want to do. Sometimes though, I just want to walk.

The NHRA guys were at Pomona this weekend. A few of our trainers mentioned they heard them while down at one of the lakes prepping for a job. Winter Nationals is something I’ve been to a few times. It’s an incredible experience, and if you’ve never been, it’s something I fully recommend. It will literally blow your mind. Being able to stand in the pits while they test out those rocket machines, is an experience you’ll never forget. Some people can’t stand there for longer than one or two seconds because the smell is so overwhelming, but that’s part of the experience. When your sitting in the stands, and one of them takes off, your eye balls rumble in your head. I swear. And for only 3 or 4 seconds, you’re reminded why you love racing. Why you love speed. And what you have in common with the thousands of other people sitting there with you.

Happy Sunday, y’all.

Fishing. Yeah, that’s what I’m doing.

Since I got nothing else to say, just know I’m out……fishing. Yeah, that’s what I’m doing. Fishing. Ha.

Song for Today

I have this song stuck in my head, so I’ll share it with you and hope it gets stuck in YOUR head. Happy Hump Day!
