One last outing before going back to work

It’s thirteen days into the new year, and I’m just now going back to work.

I took two weeks off for the holiday season. I spent it doing a little traveling to/from Arizona, and I spent another part of it screwing off and playing with family. And I had Whataburger for the first time in TWELVE YEARS!! It was great!

Just as I was about to go back to work, I came down with the flu. Apparently, it’s going around everywhere, and Boss#2’s son has full blown swine flu. So far, the beginning of 2014 hasn’t been great.

I had started to feel better later in the week it got, so casually mentioned that I’d be back on Friday. Getting one day in this week was better than none. But………when I woke up Friday morning, I felt panicky. My heart raced, my palms started sweating, and my legs were shaking. SS tried to tell me it was all in my head, and although it very well may have been, the panic attack was a clear indication that I needed to stay away until I was ready. He accepted that notion, whether he understood it or not.

As I laid there in bed confused over how long I was going to feel this way, SS leaned over and said, “You need to eat. Let me take you to breakfast.

After breakfast and a fun shopping trip to one of my favorite gnome stores (at SS’s request), we jumped back in the car and headed up to Mountain High. All the lifts were closed except one, so it was pretty quiet. We stopped to play in a partial frozen lake, even though it said not to.

Here’s some of the ice I pulled out from one side…

And here’s SS sliding across the frozen part…

We made it to the top, but since there wasn’t any snow, it wasn’t white. I sat and stared out onto the valley below. Here’s a panoramic photo of my view from left to right.

I could have sat there all day and stared out into the blank sky, but we didn’t. I had to hurry up and get back to this beautiful bundle of joy.

Thank you, SS, for making my Friday awesome. It was fun, exciting, and breathtaking. And I’m happy to be back to work with my fluffy Puppy Brother. Winking smile

    1. He's pretty cool.
And pays attention to the little things.
Can't believe how much of a difference that makes. ;)
