Song for Today

Sometimes, there’s a song that plays on XM, that just tugs at my heart with no plan of letting go. Today was one of those days. Heard this on the way to work this morning. Apparently, it’s an older song of his, but I’d never heard it until this morning.

I saw it in her eyes
When I was sayin' goodbye
That girl, she ain't gonna be alright
'Cause I could tell
She'd be goin' through a livin' hell
And I wouldn't be there by her side
And Lord I felt so bad as I sat and watched her cry
Thinkin' I was movin' on and she was barely gettin' by

Look at what I've done to her
Look at how I made her feel
I gave back her heart, the broken part
She got the raw end of the deal
And look at what it's done to me
You gotta know it tears me up
I gave it everything I had, and
Lord, it just wasn't enough
And hurtin' her like this seems so wrong
Yeah, look at what I've done to her
Now she's alone

I saw her out last night
And she was havin' a good time
That girl, it looks like she's doin' fine
But then I saw a man
Walk up and take her by the hand
And I, oh God, I almost died
And then it hit me, she didn't really need me
I just sat there for a while, until I finally smiled

Look at what I've done to her
Look at how I made her feel
She's found somebody new
And look who took the time to heal
And look at what it's done to me
You gotta know it tears me up
To have walked away from the love we made
And just leave it in a cloud of dust
And now it's got me thinkin' maybe I was wrong
After all the things I've done to her
Now she's strong

I walked up and said hello
She said, "It's good to see ya
But hey, I've gotta go"

Look at what I've done to her
Look at how I made her feel
She's standin' tall, she's got it all
Got the world at her heels
And look at what it's done to me
Look at how it makes me hurt
If I could go back now
I swear somehow
I'd find a way to make it work
Ain't life funny
Now I'm the one alone
Look at what I've done to me
She's gone

Song for Today

In honor of my most favorite dog in the whole world, today’s song is about just that. A dog. And how much happier they make our lives, than people do.

He never tells me that he's sick of this house
He never says why don't you get off that couch?
He don't cost me nothin' when he wants to go out
I want you to love me like my dog

He never says I need a new attitude
Him and my sister ain't always in a feud
When I leave the seat up he don't think that it's rude
I want you to love me like my dog does baby!

When I come home, want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog
He never acts like he don't care for my friends
He never asks me where in the hell have you been?
He don't play dead when I wanna pet him
I want you to love me like my dog does honey!

He never says 'I wish you made more money'
He always thinks that pull my finger's funny
I want you to love me like my dog

He don't get mad at me and throw a major fit
When I say his sister is a bitch!
I want you to love me like my dog does baby

What Do You Think About That?

I heard it through the grapevine
My new neighbor don't like my big red barn
A '47 Ford, bullet holes in the door
Broke down motor in the front yard
I got half a mind to paint a plywood sign
And nail it up on a notty pine tree
Saying I was here first
This is my piece of dirt
And your rambling don't rattle me

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll off-a my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

I wear what I want to, overalls work boots
Crank my music up loud
Like to sling a little mud in my four wheel drive
Trek it all into town

Shot a little eight ball down at the pool hall
Drink a beer with my friends
Now don't judge me and I won't judge you
Cause we all get judged in the end

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll offa my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

Some people care about what other people think
Worry about what they say
Let a little gossip
Coming from a loose lip ruin a perfect day
Say, blah, blah, blah, just a jacking their jaws
Got a letta roll offa my back
I don't give a dern what other people think
What do ya think about that

Say, I don't give a damn what other people think
What do ya think about that
What do ya think about that

Song for Today

I know, I know. If I dislike Zac Brown so much, why am I posting a song of his? Well, it just spoke to me right now. I think this is the only song I can stomach listening to. ;-)

Song for Today

Somebody's knockin'. Should I let him in? Lord it's the devil, would you look at him. I've heard about him but I never dreamed, he'd have blue eyes and blue jeans.

Well somebodys talkin, he's whispering to me, "your place or my place", well, which will it be? I'm gettin' weaker and he's comin on strong, but I don't wanna go wrong.

He must have tapped my telephone line. He must have known I'm spendin' my time alone. He says we'll have one heavenly night. My fevers burnin', so he ought to be right at home.

Somebody's knockin' should I let him in? Lord it's the devil, would you look at him. I've heard about him but I never dreamed, he'd have blue eyes and blue jeans.

He must have tapped my telephone line. He must have known I'm spendin' my time alone. He says we'll have one heavenly night. My fevers burnin', so he ought to be right at home.

Somebody's knockin',
Somebody's knockin',
Oh Somebody's knockin'.

Time to go back. Waaaay back. To 1998.

Today I feel like I need a little Diamond Rio (1998) in my life. So, here’s my favorite song of theirs….

I said hello I think I'm broken, and though I was only jokin', it took me by surprise when you agreed. I was tryin' to be clever, for the life of me I never would have guessed how far the simple truth would lead.

You knew all my lines, you knew all my tricks. You knew how to heal that pain, no medicine can fix. And I bless the day I met you, and I thank God that He let you lay beside me for a moment that lives on. And the good news is I'm better for the time we spent together. And the bad news is you're gone.

Lookin' back it's still surprisin', I was sinking you were rising. With a look you caught me in mid-air. Now I know God has His reasons, but sometimes it's hard to see them. When I awake and find that you're not there. You found hope in hopeless, you made crazy sane. You became the missing link, that helped me break my chains. And I bless the day I met you, and I thank God that He let you lay beside me for a moment that lives on. And the good news is I'm better for the time we spent together. And the bad news is you're gone.

The bad news is you're gone

Song for Today

Boy meets girl it's a delicate thing
So much time spent wondering if
What you see is what you get
I keep looking for a friend and a lover
When I find one he ain't the other
Sometimes, I just want to quit
One wants a maid one needs his mother
They either want space or they want to smother me
And my poor heart needs somebody who

Can take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love
And every little things that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man

I met somebody the other night
Started thinking he was Mr. right..wrong
I might have never known
If a friend hadn't brought it to my attention
He's got a wife he forgot to mention
Girl, leave that fool alone
I keep hoping and telling myself
Somewhere there's one good one left
'cause my poor heart need somebody who

Can take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love
And every little things that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man

Take it like a man, steady and strong
Not a lot of fuss and carrying on
True to a promise I can ride in a storm
Take it like a man who knows about love
And every little things that a girl dreams of
Someone wise enough to understand
If you want this woman's heart
Take it like a man
Take it like a man
Well honey if you want my heart
You gotta take it like a man
Take it like a man

What Does The Fox Say?

Monday Monday, so good to me.
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be.

Okay, okay. I'm not going to break out into The Mamas and the Papas song, but I am going to share this with you.

Have y'all heard this song? It's some sort of a crazy internet sensation, but I don't really get it. I've heard the song a number of times, and have watched the video (just to be able to say I've seen it), and I still don't understand, other than the catchyness of the music, what the f'ing deal is.

Spent the better part of the day yesterday having my hair colored. I loved having the pink streaks in it so much, that I decided it was time to go back. And it seems that everyone likes it. Yay for positive change. :-)

T-minus 18 days until Mom comes to visit. She'll be here an entire week. Thankfully she's not staying with me, but I am taking the whole week off (to not only celebrate Thanksgiving, but my BIRTHDAY!)

Happy Monday, y'all!

Song for Today

Have you guys heard this song? I can’t stop singing it. I’ve had it on repeat on my laptop for the last two days.

You were lyin' there with nothing on
But a goofy little grin and a platinum blonde
I can't believe you'd do that on our bed
I got a pistol and I got a bullet
And a pissed off finger just'a itchin' to pull it
The only thing keepin' me from losin' my head

Is I hate stripes and orange ain't my color
And if I squeeze that trigger tonight
I'll be wearin' one or the other
There's no crime of passion worth a crime of fashion
The only thing savin' your life
Is that I don't look good in orange and I hate stripes
Woah, woah, woah

I could fall in love with the prison guard
I could sell cigarettes in the prison yard
Don't think hard time would be that hard on me
I could pick up trash on the side of the road
But I'd die if I saw someone I know
Ain't the chains, it's the clothes that's stoppin' me

I hate stripes and orange ain't my color
And if I squeeze that trigger tonight
I'll be wearin' one or the other
There's no crime of passion worth a crime of fashion
The only thing savin' your life
Is that I don't look good in orange and I hate stripes

Oh, and one shot ain't worth a bad mugshot
God knows I wouldn't be caught holdin' up a number
While the whole town's starin' at the picture
In the paper of me wearin' stripes

There's no crime of passion worth a crime of fashion
The only thing savin' your life
Is that I don't look good in orange and I hate stripes
And orange ain't my color
And if I squeeze that trigger tonight
I'll be wearin' one or the other
There's no crime of passion worth a crime of fashion
The only thing savin' your life
Is that I don't look good in orange and I hate stripes

Song for Today

Caught this on TV the other day and loved it so much that I’m making it today’s song.

If only…..

Yeah, I still miss him. Don’t judge.

I was a fool to ever leave your side
Me minus you is such a lonely ride
That break-up we had has made me lonesome and sad
I realize I love you 'cuz I want you back, hey-hey

I spent the evening with the radio
Regret the moment that I let you go
Our quarrel was such a way of learning so much
I know now that I love you 'cuz I need your touch, hey-hey

CHORUS
Reunited and it feels so good
Reunited 'cuz we understood
There's one perfect fit and sugar this one is it
We both are so excited 'cuz we're reunited, hey-hey

I sat here starin' at the same old wall
Came back to life just when I got your call
I wished I could climb right through the telephone line
And give you what you want so you would still be mine, hey-hey

I can't go cheatin' honey, I can't play
I found it very hard to stay away
As we reminisce on precious moments like this
I'm glad we're back together 'cuz I missed your kiss, hey-hey

Repeat CHORUS

Oh
Lovin' lover this is solid love
And you're exactly what I'm dreamin' of
All through the day, and all through the night
I'll give you all the love I have with all my might, hey-hey

Repeat CHORUS

Song for Today

I’m lovin’ this song. It gets turned up REAL loud on my new speakers, and YES, I’m the girl singing at the stop lights.

She's a little complicated
She'll make her mind up just to change it
The kind of girl that keeps you waitin', waitin' around
She likes to get her toes done bright red
She's always reapplying her lipstick
The muddy river bank she's the first in and last out
She's got something I can't figure out
That everybody's talking about

Shes got the blue jeans painted on tight
That everybody wants on a Saturday night
She got the mood ring, she's never the same
She's sunny one minute then she's pouring down rain.
And she'll do whatever she wants
And when she moves every jaw's gonna drop
And I do but I don't want her to stop
I want, I want, I want whatever she's got
I want whatever she's got

Tell your mind before you thought it
What you thought your plan was park it
To figure out where your heart is so twisted up
Have you spendin' every weekend
And every penny you've been keepin'
Just to figure out what she's thinkin' when you're thinkin' it's love

Cause she got the blue jeans painted on tight
That everybody wants on a Saturday night
She got the mood ring, she never the same
She's sunny one minute then she's pouring down rain.
And she'll do whatever she wants
And when she moves every jaw's gonna drop
And I do, but I don't want her to stop
I want, I want, I want whatever she's got
I want whatever she's got

She's got me hangin' on the ledge
On the edge of a kiss
All I ever wanna do is this

She got the blue jeans painted on tight
That everybody wants on a Saturday night
She got the mood ring, she's never the same
I want, I want, I want, I want, I want
She got the blue jeans painted on tight
That everybody wants on a Saturday night
She got the mood ring, she's never the same
She's sunny one minute then she's pouring down rain
And she'll do whatever she wants
And when she moves every jaw's gonna drop
And I do but I don't want her to stop
I want, I want, I want
Whatever she's got
I want whatever she's got

She's a little bit complicated
That's alright
Doesn't matter I'll keep on waiting
For whatever she's got
For whatever she's got

Song for Today

Leroy Jethro Gibbs would say there is no such thing as coincidences. Leroy Jethro Gibbs would also say you should never say you’re sorry. He really would. Trust me. It’s rules #39 and #6.

Sometimes, things go beyond a coincidence. Sometimes, it’s much more than any human can take credit for. Is it prewritten in the stars? Is there really a higher power that pushes things in a certain direction because it just KNOWS that’s what is supposed to happen? Probably not.

For me, this song came out at JUST the right time. A coincidence? I think not….

It’s nice to hear these guys sing something other than some big mess of a song. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I loved singing along to Cruise and Round Here, but come on….    This is much better!

I'd sell my soul just to see your face.
I'd break my bones just to heal your pain.
In these times I need a saving grace, but time is running out and I'm starting to lose my faith.

But if I told you I loved you, would it make you want to stay?
I'm sorry for the way I hurt you and making you walk away.
(I should have took the time to tell you)
And if I wrote you a love song and sang it to you every day, would it ever be enough to make you wanna come back home and stay?
(I can't go another day without you)
Would it make you, make you, wanna stay?
(Girl you gotta know I love you)

My heart's on my sleeve, but it's turning black.
(I guess I know what it feels like it to be alone)
Without your touch I'm not gonna last.
(I know you know that I need ya just to carry on)
It feels like my walls are caving in.
(You'd always hold me before I left you hanging on)
And I'll do anything to have you here again.

Yeah, the days are cold, the nights are long.
And I can't stand to be alone.
Please know this is not your fault.
And all I want...

Is to tell you I love you and make you wanna stay.
There's gotta be a way, 'cause going on without you is killing me everyday.
And if I wrote you a love song and sang it to you every day, would it ever be enough to make you wanna come back home and stay?
(I can't go another day without you)
Would it make you, make you, wanna stay?
(Girl you gotta know I love you)
Would it make you, make you, wanna stay?
(I can't go another day without you)
Would it make you, make you, wanna stay?

Song for Today

A friend sent me this link, and I will forever thank him for it. I knew immediately that this would be today’s song. It’s fabulous. Two of my favorite singers. Together.

If you want to see the live acoustic version of Bryan Adams singing it (since it’s his song), click here.

Song for Today

This song.

It’s so simple and stupid, but I love it. I’m the nerdy girl at the gas station totally rocking out to it. Deal with it.      :-)    Eventually there’ll be a video and I’ll replace this with it. But until then, here’s the song and the lyrics.

Song for Today

Love.

Old boy Goose bought a new pontoon
Roll out now, hit the lake by noon
You bring the drinks and I'll crank the tunes
Get some hot sun
Jeep full of girls couldn't get no hotter
Flag 'em down holler won't you follow
There's a party floating on the water
It's going down right now
Come on jump on

The booze cruise, summer groove
I wanna see your booty move
Looks like you need another
So let me mix you up a Redneck Margarita
You know the one just straight tequila
All aboard we're cutting loose
So come on jump on
The booze cruise

Don't need bait, no line because
We're just catchin' us a buzz
Pass around some of that good stuff
Till dawn, it's on
Joe got drunk and fell in the lake
Ray passed out but make no mistake
Any minute now he'll wake and bake
Burn it up, turn it up
Come on jump on

The booze cruise, summer groove
I wanna see your booty move
Ooh so many hotties
Who wants to do a body shot off a string bikini
We call that a Hillbilly Martini
All aboard we're cutting loose
So come on jump on
The booze cruise

Look at headlight Lisa with a Jägerbomb
Done lost her mind, done lost her top
Walkin' round looking for one flip flop
Goodness she's a hot mess
Donnie's daughter she's sweet sixteen
He's madder than hell cause she was last seen
Jumping on the back of some boy's jet ski
That girl done flew the coupe (goodbye)
No telling what you'll lose
On the booze cruise

What kind of liquor makes your tushy move
Y'all let me mix you up a Redneck Margarita
You know the one just straight tequila
Good Lord all aboard
Come on jump on

The booze cruise, summer groove
I wanna see your booty move
Ooh so many hotties
Who wants to do a body shot off a string bikini
We call that a Hillbilly Martini
All aboard we're cutting loose
So come on jump on
The booze cruise

Song for Today

When I lose my smile
When my thoughts get jumbled
When the air and BS get too thick
Can’t take a breath without getting sick
I’ve had enough with this concrete jungle
I drop my truck in drive
I pick up my baby
She jumps in with a kiss and a hey
We exit off that old highway
Sometimes you gotta go beyond the pavement

[Chorus]
You gotta go deep
Way on back
Cross a few creeks
And a couple little shacks
You gotta get lost
Way on out
Crickets and frogs
Yeah you’re gettin’ close now
And you kick it into four wheel drive when you run out of road
And you go, and you go and you go-go-go
‘Til you hear a banjo

It ain’t on no map
And I’m glad it isn’t
Leave the phone and the GPS,
Those satellites ain’t found it yet,
Got our own little piece of heaven hidden

[Chorus]
Yeah, you gotta go deep
Way on back
Cross a few creeks
And a couple little shacks
You gotta get lost
Way on out
Crickets and frogs
Yeah you’re gettin’ close now
And you kick it into four wheel drive when you run out of road
And you go, and you go and you go-go-go
‘Til you hear a banjo

You gotta go deep
Way on back
Cross a few creeks
And a couple little shacks
You gotta get lost
Way on out
Crickets and frogs
Yeah you’re gettin’ close now
And you kick it into four wheel drive when you run out of road
And you go, and you go and you go and you go and you go
Oooh hoo
‘Til you hear that banjo
Kick it
You gotta go deep
Way on back
Oh oh oh
Cross a few creeks
And a couple little shacks
Oh oh oh
Four wheel drive when you run out of road
Oh oh oh
And you go and you go, and you go
‘Til you hear that, ‘til you hear that
‘Til you hear that banjo

Song for Today

Y’all. It’s Wednesday. I’ve made it half way through this rough week. And to celebrate that, here’s Toby’s new one. Funny how fitting it is…
