Twenty-six more days until the Daytona 500. Are you excited for another year of racing? Are you excited to see your driver climb into their car after being out for a few months?

What do you think about the new race format?

Let’s get this chat going for the new season. 2017. It’s bound to bring some amazing moments, and where better to talk about them than right here?

Monday NASCAR news

1. Can you believe the kind of roll that Matt Kenseth and the whole Joe Gibbs Racing team have been on? It’s crazy, and I’m loving it.

With a start from the pole, he dominated the Michigan track. I don’t know if the JGR organization is doing so well because they like the new competition package, or because it’s just ultimately their time. Either way, I’m super happy.

2. Stewart-Haas Racing is supposed to announce on Tuesday, the new sponsor for Danica Patrick next year.

Remember we heard a few months back that Go Daddy was leaving NASCAR? Yep, that means Danica needed to find another sponsor. It’s my understanding that Nature's Bakery is going to take over. I’ve never heard of them, but looking at pictures, it appears to be something I wouldn’t eat anyway.

3. Here’s the latest Chase Grid…..
It’s great to see KB up there in the top.

We could see McMurray, Menard, Newman, Gordon, or Bowyer lose their current spot at any moment within the next three weeks, so we’ll talk more about it then.

4. Did you catch the Xfinity race on Saturday? Seems there is a difference of opinion about the final outcome of the race. David Regan tapped the bumper of Alex Tagliani on the last turn of the race, which caused Tagliani to lose the groove line completely moving him out of the way, and allowing Regan to take the checkered flag. Some call it dirty racing. Some just call it racing.

To me, it’s just racing. That’s the same exact way Dale Earnhardt used to race, so people just need to simmer down. You don’t get to win races without taking chances. Tagliani should have raced harder and had a bigger lead.

Let’s talk more NASCAR next week.

NASCAR this weekend

Thursday: Camping World Truck Series. He missed the drivers meeting and had to start from the back. Guess where he finished? FIRST! Kyle wins at Kentucky.

Friday: Nationwide Series. Brad Keselowski wins. Kyle finishes 3rd at Kentucky.

Saturday: Sprint Cup Series. Starts on the pole. Guess where he finished? FIRST! Kyle wins the inaugural race at Kentucky.

Another moment of Kyle Busch’s life goes into the history book of NASCAR. Way to go, kid.

This week in NASCAR…

Camping World Truck Series: Kyle Busch took off and left Ron Hornaday in the dust after a restart with four laps to go resulting in a win by .577 seconds. This win locked up the Owners Championship for him in his first year as an owner. Todd Bodine clenched his 2nd title last week, but was officially able to celebrate this week. Congrats to him.

Nationwide Series: 25 to go…caution comes out because Chase Mattioli hit the wall. Restart with Harvick in 1st, Busch in 2nd. Kyle took the lead and didn’t give it up. He wins the race and brings another Points Championship trophy to the Joe Gibbs camp. Brad Keselowski took the title last week, but like Todd Bodine, wasn’t awarded and able to officially celebrate until today. I say, through gritted teeth, Congrats to him as well.

Sprint Cup Series: Starting Sunday’s cup race, Denny Hamlin had the points lead. 23 laps in, and he spins. Having to fight his way back through traffic, he ended up a disappointing 14th. Sorry Denny. I was actually pulling for you. Kevin Harvick wrecked Kyle Busch, and after turning into a fire ball, Kyle was out. Sad smile Carl Edwards won the race, but Jimmie Johnson (puke!) stole the show. Five cup titles puts Jimmie in a class of his own.

This week in NASCAR…

Camping World Truck Series: Matt Crafton, driver of the No. 88 Thorsport Chevrolet, won his first pole of the 2010 season Thursday night at Texas Motor Speedway as the. Kyle Busch blew past points leader Todd Bodine on a restart on Lap 127 and held off Johnny Sauter over the final 20 laps to win Friday night's WinStar World Casino 350K.

Nationwide Series: James Buescher takes the pole. Carl Edwards scores the victory, his third of the season. Brad Keselowski's third-place showing is good enough to clinch this season's Nationwide Series championship. It's the first NASCAR title for Roger Penske, Keselowski's car owner.

On another note, Kyle Busch stormed out of the media center after claiming Carl Edwards illegally jumped the final restart and gotten away with it. He used swear words both during the brief media center interview and also in an earlier post-race radio interview.

Sprint Cup Series: Approximately one hour after announcing a full-time multi-year Nationwide Series deal with Kevin Harvick Inc., Sadler put the Sprint Cup Series car he will leave at the end of the season on the pole for Sunday's AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Kyle Busch gets spun around, then is immediately caught speeding while exiting pit road. He exploded on the team radio with a string of expletives and then compounded his misery by flashing an obscene gesture to a NASCAR official. A two lap penalty put Kyle finishing in the 32nd spot. Jeff Gordon had a few choice words (and a few fist punches) for Jeff Burton. 1/1,000 of an inch, is just sometimes too close. Denny Hamlin takes the checkered flag AND the points lead. Finally, someone other than Jimmie Johnson.

Next week: Phoenix     Winner prediction: Jeff Gordon

This week in NASCAR…

Camping World Truck Series: Ron Hornaday gets the pole at Talladega. Then, with three laps to go, he’s bumped by a competitor. His truck flipped over a few times. Rescue crews had to turn it back onto its side so he could get out. He then walked away, smiling. I, was in tears. I remember watching him race at my hometown track when I was a kid. He was the local favorite, and the one everyone cheered for. On a MUCH happier note, Kyle Busch makes an incredible move to win by 2 thousandths of a second. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

Kyle vs Almirola

Nationwide Series: No race this week.

Sprint Cup Series: Juan Pablo Montoya gets the pole at Talladega. It took the replays and scoring loops to determine Clint Bowyer had beaten Kevin Harvick after A.J. Allmendinger flipped following the white flag, ending the race. Kyle finished a disappointing 28th.

Clint vs Harvick

Next week: Texas     Winner prediction: Jimmie Johnson or Kyle Busch

Nationwide Series: Keselowski wins at Gateway, in Illinois, and holds on to his points lead.

Sprint Cup Series: Denny Hamlin wins at Martinsville for the third time in a row (four career wins at Martinsville). Jimmie Johnson is still leading the points standings by SIX points. The closest points race ever!

Next week: Talladega     Winner prediction: Jamie McMurray or Kyle Busch
