Dancing with the Stars - Season 27

I don’t know if I’m more disappointed in the public for turning this show into a popularity contest, or the producers for allowing it to happen.

Bobby Bones? Who the hell is that? I suppose that if you live in Nashville and listen to country radio, then you know who he is. If you don’t, then I promise, you’re not missing much. The guy is a fool.

My first impression of him when the show started, was that he was a joke. Were they really kidding with this idiot that couldn’t even stay standing during his very first dance? What a bafoon.

Week after week, it didn’t get better. The judges knew it, and the public knew it. I don’t know what kind of deal he made with his voting public, but it worked. One excellent dancer after another was eliminated, much to the dislike of every single person on the show, until the last four were standing.

Let’s be honest, there’s no way in this entire world, that Bobby outdanced any of the other top three.
No. Fucking. Way.
You know it. I know it. The judges know it. The producers know it. And Bobby Bones knows it.
He’s not even the same caliber dancer as the others.

For the producers to CUT OFF VOTING before the show even aired on the west coast, is bullshit. We couldn’t even vote! Apparently, the producers wanted the Nashville votes for Bobby, because they knew the overwhelming Hollywood votes for Milo, Evanna, or Alexis, would shame the rest. Such bullshit.

What’s the point of having professional judges, if the dancers are going to be judged off popularity?

I’ve been a faithful watcher all these seasons, but this season really pissed me off. The best dancer did not win. He can take those fake tears all the way to the grave, because it’s likely I’m done with this rigged show.

DWTS–Season 17 has been announced

Hi Readers,

Know what time is almost upon us? Yep. It’s almost time for Dancing with the Stars. Just another week and a half, and we’ll be watching these couples strut their stuff around the dance floor. Let’s see who they are, shall we?

 

Elizabeth Berkley Lauren – you probably know her best from the 80’s and 90’s teen hit show Saved by the Bell. Or even that mid 90’s movie Showgirls. She looks a little different today, probably from plastic surgery, but whatever. I don’t judge about that. I’m in need of some myself.

 

 

 

Corbin Bleu – you might know him from the Disney famous High School Musical movies. For me, though, I don’t know him. Don’t even recognize him. He’s got a great partner, so he’ll do okay.

 

 

 

Brant Daugherty – if you watch Pretty Little Liars, or Army Wives, then you know this cutie. If not, you’re not alone. I don’t know him either.

 

 

 

 

Bill Engvall – Grammy nominated, multi-platinum selling recording artist, actor, and country comedian. He will be funny to watch try to bend and twist around the dance floor. He won’t win, but it’ll be pure comedy trying to watch. :)

 

 

 

Valerie Harper – Rhoda!! If you’ve ever watched the Mary Tyler Moore Show, you know who this is. If you haven’t, you’re missing out. She’s been given the clear by her doctors to participate in this season. I hope she does well.

 

 

 

 

Keyshawn Johnson – the athlete. He’s a former #1 draft pick football player. And very cocky. Good luck to him.

 

 

 

 

 

Christina Milian – who? I don’t know who this is, but she’s got Mark as a partner. She won’t do THAT bad.

 

 

 

 

 

Bill Nye – The Science Guy. You know who he is, don’t lie! He’s an amazing man. One of the most intelligent, and great at teaching Science to those that aren’t great at understanding. He just has a way with words. I look forward to seeing him perform.

 

 

 

Jack Osbourne – Ozzy Osbourne’s son. I know nothing about him, so I won’t pretend I do. If he’s anything like his dad, I won’t like him, but we’ll see.

 

 

 

 

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi – if you watched The Jersey Shore, they must not have had anything better on in your part of town. It’s okay, though, I won’t hold a grudge. ;-)  

I don’t have anything nice to say about her, so I’ll leave it at that. Good luck to her and her new dance partner, Sasha.

 

 

 

Leah Remini – The only thing I know her from, is King of Queens. I didn’t really watch that show, but I watched it enough to know who she is. Lately she’s been in the news because of her involvement with The Church of Scientology. I think I remember her having some sort of dance in her background, so this shouldn’t be too out of character for her.

 

 

 

Amber Riley – she’s on Glee. I don’t watch Glee, so I don’t know who she is.

 

 

 

 

And THAT, my friends, is the new cast of season seventeen. Good luck to them all.

What a day.

Hello.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed at how wonderfully a day goes. It’s an “awe” moment, when you realize not everything sucks.

Woke up at 4:30am this morning. I don’t know what’s going on with me, but I haven’t been able to sleep through the night in over a MONTH! It’s horrible. I wake up and am awake for an hour or more. I finally fall back asleep, and the dogs wake me up. It’s. So. Annoying. I miss sleep. Once I stepped outside to leave for work, I saw the beauty in the day. The overcast was welcomed.

My bosses and I have been talking about changing my office computer to a Mac for a few weeks now. Everyone knows…I am Val, and I’m a PC. My uncomfortableness and skepticism about it’s usage, made it difficult to persuade them against it. Every day I deal with Mac users. There are times when I hear we can’t open this. Aren’t Mac and PC supposed to be compatible? I tried to fight it, but in the end, I had to tell myself Get over it. You’re not an idiot. You’ll figure it out. Stop being afraid of failure.

And so, Boss#2 and I went to the Mac store and bought one. The large screen makes my office seem funny now. It’ll take some time to get used to it. I think it’s too big. When you have to turn your head left and right to see the whole thing, it’s a bit overkill.

I heard bff@work on the phone with his wife talking about having pizza for dinner. On my drive home, I started thinking about how good that sounded. I didn’t want to order pizza (cause I never eat it all-just ends up being a waste), so I settled for a frozen pizza. I really wish I hadn’t.

I settled on the couch to watch NCIS. So glad I did. I was gonna watch something else, but didn’t. Figured it could wait, and Gibbs couldn’t. Mmm.

I balled my eyes out while watching it. Uncontrollable crying. It was ugly, but necessary. And it was the first time I had cried in months. All the emotions and feelings came flooding out. All because of a television show. A very good television show.

What the hell is wrong with Hope? Maks was obviously spoken to by the head honchos at DWTS because he’s been real cheerful and smiley ever since his outburst. But Hope? Really? We get that you’re stressed. We get that you’re hurt. We get that your competitiveness is shinning out and showing us exactly how much you hate to lose. We get it. But we’re tired of it. As much as I hate to see Maks gone, I hope you get the boot this week.

Okay, enough from me. I’m exhausted (if only I could actually sleep), and I need to be at the ranch early to play with the new computer. Transferring files will be a better part of my morning. All while trying to get other things done. I can’t wait!

Dancing With the Stars - Week 1

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to my review of Dancing With the Stars. I’m so glad you joined me. Now, lets get started…

RM#1 is watching for the first time ever. In 13 seasons, you’d think she would have watched prior to last night. Nope. Not even once. Two specific people caught her attention this time, so congrats to the people at Dancing With the Stars for gaining another viewer.

Ron Artest - Oh my. Why do I have to start with him? He wasn’t my favorite, but that’s okay. He moved a bit like a building. He’s awkwardly tall anyway, so the hopes of him moving around like a graceful male swan is unlikely. I’m a bit shocked that he was hoping for TENS from the judges. I hope he meant ten total. I thought the 14 he got was too generous. All that aside, I was touched that the only reason he decided to do DWTS was because his daughter asked him to. Cute. Just plain cute.

Rob Kardashian - I have a low opinion of him thus far, but it’s early. There’s lots more time for him to disappoint. He had simple moves that were very robotic, most likely because his rehearsal time was less than anyone else’s. Whatever.

Kristin Cavallari - I expected better from her. I guess the expectations set by Audrina last season were too great. Oh well. I see LOTS of room for improvement, so no worries. she’ll be fine. Especially with a partner like Mark.

Chynna Phillips - She has natural grace. Of course she does. She looked so elegant as she floated like a cloud across the dance floor.

Nancy Grace - She did good. Better than I thought she would, to be honest. I still don’t watch her show know much about her, but she has a lot of heart and genuinely WANTS to go out there and try. I hope she succeeds.

David Arquette - Wow. He did awesome. I’ve heard some of the trainers tell stories about this guy, so my opinion of him is clouded by that. As the weeks go on, I promise to try my hardest to keep that out of my mind while giving my opinion.

Elisabetta Canalis - She sucked! Now I know why George Clooney dumped her. Can’t have a satisfying sexual relationship if one of the people doesn’t have rhythm. Oh well. Hmm.

Hope Solo - One of my favorites!!! RM#1’s ex boyfriend (former RM#2) is watching this season just because of Hope. Another score for DWTS people. Another viewer added this season.

Carson Kressley - I kind of felt like he was all over the place. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong. I just felt like it was sloppy. I hope he improves.

J.R. Martinez - Another of my favorites! Nearly flawless. Nice moves. His fit physique makes his moves more attractive.

Rikki Lake - She did good. To be perfectly honest, I expected her to be better. Okay, wait. Actually, I expected the DANCE to be better. It isn’t Rikki’s fault the dance didn’t compliment the way she can move. Maybe next week, Rikki.

Chaz Bono - THE BEST OF THE NIGHT! And my most favorite. Not taking into consideration everything I already know about him and his past, I whole heartedly want him to succeed on this show. The Quickstep next week might prove to be very difficult for him, his knees, and his chubby feet, but we’ll see. I wish him the best.

Oh, and bye-bye Ron!

The new cast of Dancing with the Stars

Guess what time it is, readers? It’s time for Dancing with the Stars again. I’m excited to get another season underway. There has been lots of commentary about the cast of this upcoming season. As always, competition brings out the good, the bad, and the ugly in people, and this season is no exception. Let’s meet this seasons competitors:

CHAZ BONO (Lacey Schwimmer)– I’ll go ahead and start off with the most talked about contestant. Who is Chaz Bono? Well, Chaz started out as cute little Chastity, but in 2008, she took on all the legal avenues in order to ensure she was now in fact, a man. Chastity Bono is now Chaz Bono. Daughter turned son of Sunny and Cher.

ELISABETTA CANALIS (Val Chmerkovskiy) – Honestly, I didn’t know who this was. I had to Google her name. And when I first saw her picture, I said, Whoa! She looks like Sandra Bullock. But, she’s not. She’s Elisabetta Canalis, and she’s an actress. Her most famous claim to fame is probably her recent relationship with George Clooney. I haven’t seen one single thing she’s been in, but I wish her luck on this show.

HOPE SOLO (Maksim Chmerkovskiy) – An American soccer player. I’m not in any way a soccer fan, but I do have some friends that are pretty die hard about it and will watch this just to see her dance. I guess that’s the point, right?

 

KRISTIN CAVALLARI (Mark Ballas) – Another freakin’ reality star. Oh, brother. Whatever. And I’m not one bit surprised that she’s paired with Mark Ballas.

 

 

 

 

RICKI LAKE (Derek Hough) – A former talk show host I thought was gone from television. Nope. She’s not. Her annoying voice is right back in our faces.

 

 

RON ARTEST (Peta Murgatroyd) – A Laker. Wait. Let me rephrase that. My least favorite Laker. Ugh. No doubt though he will bring comedy to this show.

 

 

CARSON KRESSLEY (Anna Trebunskaya) – A fashion expert. Oh, I can’t wait to see how this season goes for him. That’s all I have to say about that.

 

CHYNNA PHILLIPS (Tony Dovolani) – Whoa! I’m surprised she’s still in the media limelight. Remember the singing group Wilson Phillips? She’s the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips (from The Mama’s and the Papa’s). I used to LOVE her. She was my favorite of the trio group. I used to sing into the mirror and act like I was her. Shh.

 

DAVID ARQUETTE (Kym Johnson) – All the years I’ve been watching television, I’ve seen several of the Arquette family members flash across my screen. Clothed and unclothed. I never followed them closely, and I never considered myself an “Arquette” fan. However, I’m not totally against cheering for him. If he does well, he might be who I cheer for.

J.R. MARTINEZ (Karina Smirnoff) - Just an ordinary guy turned Army war hero. Severe burns to 40% of his body in Iraq made him a humble mad. A now motivational speaker and actor, I can only imagine his words would bring me to tears.

 

NANCY GRACE (Tristan MacManus) – I don’t watch MSNBC, I don’t watch Fox News, and I don’t watch Bill O’Riley, so please forgive me for not having anything to say about Nancy Grace. I’m sure as the season goes on, I’ll have plenty to say about her.

 

 

ROB KARDASHIAN (Cheryl Burke) – Um, who? A model and music group manager. Oh, and he belongs to the famous Kardashian bunch. You know, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe. I’m not going to pretend that I know who this guy is, cause I don’t. And I’m not going to pretend that I like him, cause I don’t. But, he has an entire season to change my perception of him. If he does it, fine. If not, fine too.

So there you have it. The next 12 people to face the judges of Dancing with the Stars. I can’t wait. I’m excited.

Dancing with the Stars - Week 8

Here we are, week eight. We’ve said goodbye to The Hoff, Michael Bolton, Margaret Cho, The Situation, Florence Henderson, Audrina Patridge, and Rick Fox. Unfortunately, I was not recording

Kyle Massey - The way she talks to him, is so awesome. Her expectations of him shine bright because when he gets out there, he takes over the dance floor. He was graceful, elegant, and pure fairytaleish. (Thank you Carrie Ann for agreeing with me.) When they performed their Instant Dance, I was just as blown away as the judges. He just gets better every time.

Jennifer Grey - Missed this dance. “Instant Dance” was unbelievable, but is she on something? She always seems so “spacey” when they’re talking to her. Must be some good painkillers.

Kurt Warner - While I watched them dance together, I never saw the “connection”. I didn’t feel like they showed any emotion toward each other. Kurt doesn’t get physically close to her because his cranky wife would bitch at him because he’s a good ol’ religious boy. If he could get past that, I would have a higher score for him each week. Their Instant Dance was as good as it could have been. I truly believe it brought out the best in him.

Bristol Palin - I found myself unable to look away. Seeing the intensity in both their eyes is what drew me in. By far her best performance yet. This weeks most improved award goes to them. Instant Dance: Whoa mama. Waay too much shaking. They could have put a few more dance steps instead, but I understand they were under a time constraint.

Brandy - Missed this dance, too, but I caught the Instant Dance. I loved the dance, but the end was horrible when they walked off cheering at the crowd. What was that? Max embarrassed Brandy, but I’m not here to focus on that. :-/

My vote: Bristol (based on seeing three of the five dances)     My vote to go home: Jennifer
