Newest toy

Guess what I just got, y’all?!?

A brand new laptop.

Yep. Brand new. First time I’ve ever had a brand new one.

I feel like such an adult. Funny how that works. And I didn’t need anyone’s approval. I went out on a limb and picked it out myself. Nobody looked over my shoulder telling me I was picking the wrong kind. Nobody was trying to convince me that I needed features that I didn’t. It was just me and my knowledge of computers that brought me this beauty.

And now I have a place to hide all my stuff. :-)

Sand thingy

When I was younger, I was madly in love with these…

Remember them? They were these cool frames with sand (and water?) inside. You could turn them over and create new sand images, kind of like an hour glass, but not really. Okay, so nothing like an hour glass, but you get the point.

I had one. And I loved it. I played with it ALL. THE. TIME. But there was some sort of trick about them, that made them almost worthless after some time. They would eventually, and I’m not sure if it’s because too much or too little, air would be inside. There was a pin sized hole on the side that you had to let in? or let out? air. I was so young, that I totally don’t remember. And I’m not about to call Dad for the answer. Ugh!

Anyway, I was flipping through one of my catalogs that came in today’s mail, and GUESS WHAT I SAW!!!!

They have a LARGE one!!

I SO TOTALLY WANT THIS!! I don’t have any idea where I’d put it, and it would probably bug the hell out of RM#1 if I hung it on one of the living room walls, but it’s fabulous.

There will come a time when I have my own place again. Maybe I’ll look into buying one then. Until then, I’ll save a place on the wall of my imaginary future home.

Happy almost Friday, Readers. I’m so thrilled it’s the weekend. Fun plans with a girlfriend on Saturday, and then Sis comes home Saturday night. Fun weekend planned. Can’t wait to enjoy it.

Legos. Finished.

We did it. We finished the Star Wars Lego set. The picture quality isn’t great, but it’s what I was able to get on the fly.

Not sure what is in store for next week, but this week sure was fun!

You’re never too old for Legos

I got you a surprise, but if you don’t like it, you can tell me. I won’t be mad.

Not having been around RJ much for the last five years leaves me completely out of touch with the things he enjoys. It’s hard to wrap my mind around some of the computer games he loves to play. They are much more complex than the one I play (Farmville), and this place isn’t big on electronic devices.

I was faced with a decision when visiting a store recently, find something fun for him to enjoy for two hours in a room, or make it a miserable, boring, two hours. My first thought? Yikes! What does this ten year old enjoy doing other than playing World of Warcraft?

When he called me Saturday morning to give me his lunch order, I mentioned to him that I had a surprise. When he came into the room, after running up to me and giving me a hug, his face lit up and he said Awesome! I love it!

Whew! Relief.

We spent the better part of the next two hours building this:

It has these four characters. (Ryan laughs about the hair of this one, but I think it’s pretty rad.)

The set comes with three different bags of Legos. It took about an hour to put together the first bag. Next week we’ll work on bag #2.

Toys

RM#2’s son arrived yesterday. Imagine the excitement on my face when I saw him playing with the cars inside this box…

They used to be RJ’s cars. And I’m happy to see they are still making a child happy and keeping him entertained.  :-)

Who says toys are only for kids?

A few days ago, I came home from work, walked into my room, threw my purse down on the bed, and noticed a yo-yo perched ever so carefully up against one of my bed pillows. What the heck is this doing here, I said to myself in complete confusion. I grabbed it, and headed to the kitchen where RM#1, RM#2, and RM#3 were all eating dinner.

Apparently, RM#3 had to make a stop at Target on his way home, and upon entering the store, stopped at the $1.00 bins. He picked up three toys that he had hoped would entertain three people, and he was right.

RM#1 got a Slinky…

RM#2 got an airplane…

I got a yo-yo…

I’m beginning to think I’ll never figure out how to walk the dog.

The Raisins

Remember these guys? The California Raisins were popular when I was younger. I had several, that I think I got from cereal boxes, and can remember being saddened the day I got rid of them. But, I moved on.

Rubik’s Cube

rubiks_cube

Want to solve the Rubik’s cube?

No more breaking it apart or taking the stickers off only to replace them in the correct order. Read HERE and maybe you can, too. 20 moves or less? Give it a try.
