He’s baaaack

Thank goodness.

Showing up to The Ranch every day isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. Ha. Glamorous and The Ranch in the same sentence? No freakin’ way.

Anyway, it’s always so much better to come in to work knowing you’re favorite person is going to be around. And when there are gifts on my desk, it’s even better than I had expected. Check this out…

This is the new candy dish that was waiting for me, ever so beautifully wrapped on my desk, when he returned. I ♥ him and his wife.

This morning when I got in, it was full of SweetTarts. I’m not really a SweetTart kind of person, but somehow I managed to go through half the jar. *sigh*

I’m expecting some fabulous company this evening. Maybe dinner. Maybe a little snuggling. Who knows. I sure hope these SweetTarts I’ve eaten don’t put me in a sugar high I can’t come down from. Yikes!

Happy almost Friday, y’all.

Surprise, surprise

Two surprise phone calls in one week. Awesome.

Sunday: Mom calls and says, “Robert and I are going to the November race in Phoenix. We are driving and can pick you up on the way. We’ll pay for your ticket. Happy Birthday!”

Tuesday: The X calls and says, “RJ wants to see you this weekend. You can have him all day Saturday if you want.

To go and see a Cup race, somewhere other than my home track? YOU BET! And you can guarantee I’ll take LOTS and LOTS of pictures. It’ll be a four day weekend full of sightseeing and two NASCAR races. Awesome.

Unfortunately, due to lack of funds, I had to discontinue the supervised visitations with RJ. It became too expensive to pay someone to see him for two hours, plus the gas to drive the 2hr trip, and now that my car has been acting funny (i.e.. smoking), I’m a bit weary of driving it up/down that kind of hill in this 100*+ heat. It’s just not good for me right now. And surprisingly, The X understands. At least he says he does. So, he’s allowed me to take Ryan for the day. No supervisors, no expensive payments, no “you can’t say this” or “you can’t talk about that”. No. Just the two of us. And maybe some ice cream.

Here’s to growing up a bit. And the progress of trust.   :-)

A surprise package

A few months ago, when the NASCAR guys were in Las Vegas, a coworker of LZ’s sent her husband and daughter off for the weekend. Yay for NASCAR road trips with dad!

Kyle Busch was signing autographs, so they snapped a photo for me. See…

Wednesday evening, I come home from work, and a package sat on my doorstep. I knew it was coming, but I didn’t know what was inside. I grabbed a pair of scissors from the kitchen and worked my way through the tape shut box. See the hat he’s signing in the picture up there? Guess what was inside the box?

As soon as I opened it, my legs almost gave out as I tried so hard to not drop it. Tears rolled down my face as I thought I can’t let this hat, signed by one of the greatest drivers on the track today, fall to the ground. No way.  I have big plans for this hat, and they don’t involve being on the ground. I have a glass cabinet in storage that typically houses all my NASCAR memorabilia. This hat will eventually be put in there. Until then, I’ll be sportin’ it with my KB jacket!

Thank you D&J. You truly are as fabulous as LZ always says! This hat is now in good hands.
