Small Track Racing

I love small track racing.

A friend of mine invited me to one of the local small tracks to watch the NASCAR South West Series play out, and it was so much fun. Been a long time since I’ve done that, and now I remember why I used to always want to tag along when Jeff would go watch these races. It’s so much more fun than sitting at home.

Every time a different group of cars/trucks came out, we would each pick a car that we would cheer for. For some strange reason, every time I picked a number, that car would end up wrecked or out of the race for one reason or another. This #99 truck was no exception.

Have you ever watched Skid Plate racing? It’s HILARIOUS!!!! And they look like they’re having so much fun! The back tires are removed and a flat steel plate is welded onto the wheels. It’s really that simple….Bolt the rear skid plates on, attach the safety chains, pull up the parking brake, and it’s time to go racing!

Check out this video..

The guy that invited me (an old friend from elementary school – pictured below) had connections at the track, so we got in free and heard the inside scoop on a lot of stuff. And some great up close and personal photos.

Ever since I lost my NASCAR Race Buddy back in April, I’ve been looking for another. I’ve had horrible luck finding a descent replacement, so Squid has volunteered to step in until I find him. Hope it’s soon. I’m going a little stir crazy. And I think Squid isn’t quite into cars as much as me.

Happy Sunday, Y’all. And good luck to Kyle in Louden.

  1. You are clearly into cars more than me, but that is because I just started getting into them. Luckily I have someone I can ask questions.

    1. I love that you want to learn about it. It makes it so much more fun for me when I have someone else to experience those things with. Especially since I'm such a chicken to go anywhere alone. LOL.

  2. Skid plate racing looks fun. At Charlotte Motor Speedway in the summer they have the legends car racing. Halfway thru they have train racing. Two cars are chained front to back. The front car has the drive train and the rear car has the brakes. It is a blast. They also have school bus racing. It's really fun if Jimmy Spencer is there. He almost always rolls the bus.

Hope you find a Car buddy soon.
